The area - Lusignac and Riberac
L'Ancien Chai, is set in the countryside of Perigord Vert in Dordogne. It is 15 minutes walk from the small village of Lusignac which has a bar and restaurant. Friday nights are popular there where there is often live music and the ever popular "Les Fish & Chips"!
Bouteilles St Sebastian is also in walking distance with another rustic quirky small bar. It lies in the valley below the house.
Verteillac is 6 km to the north, with shops, bars, bank, post office, bakers, hairdresser, newsagent, doctor and pharmacist. A similar distance south is St Severin with a SPAR supermarket - very good and friendly. There is also the wonderful quaint English Bookshop which is worth the visit here too.
Riberac, 11km away, is a bustling town with all the ameneties and a large open-air market every Friday. The Dronne river offers fishing, canoeing and boating. Lots of supermarkets here.
Further afield is Bordeaux (120km), Bergerac (70km) and Angouleme (50km). Bergerac and Bordeaux have airports with good connections to UK.
The pre-historic caves of Grottes de Villars lie to the east. Nearby historic and popular places to visit include Brantôme, Aubeterre-sur-Dronne and Bourdeilles. Brantome is 20km away.
Or simply stay local. L'Anchien Chai will delight those interested in painting, photography and reading, or relaxing in the sun, enjoying the pool, playing tennis and recharging the batteries.
